Presented here are talking points for a Proposed High-Tech Entertainment Concept

A new company, Hypogeum Productions, is planning to design a modular/transportable "Cyber Sports Arena" to be used as the main attraction at a series of proposed Major Live-Events, and conceived to become "North America’s Largest Digital Multimedia Festival and a World Class LAN Party". These events can best be described as an "Underground carnival-like Traveling Show" featuring Game Playing, Contests, Live Music, Food, and Tournaments.

Cyber Sports Arena:

The concept for the Modular/Transportable Cyber Sports Arena System began a stage prop for a motion picture and now is a concideration for an actual working system configured to host special championship tournaments and contests held during the events. The system will be designed as a "Traveling Underground Attraction" to appear in conjunction at electronic entertainment and video game related venues, expos, conferences, and conventions such as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the Game Developers Conference (GDC), the Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH), the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX Prime), gamescon: Cologne, the Tokyo Game Show, and Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Conceptual System for a Modular and Transportable Cyber Sports Arena.

The Cyber Sports Arena will be comprised of unique systems that will embrace state-of-the-art audio/video technologies such as immersive virtual reality & robotic motion simulators, 3D displays, touch screens, augmented reality, surround sound, etc. The Hypogeum Cyber Sports Arena will be configured to travel to and be an attraction at current events and designed to attract customers simply based upon the spectacle and uniqueness of the venue itself.

Hypogeum Productions - Events:

Hypogeum Productions venues will include live shows, music, food, video game competitions, audience participation, spectator support, product promotion, and major sponsorships. The featured gaming attractions will be hosted in the "Cyber Sports Arena" configured as an edgy-futuristic/post-apocalyptic entertainment complex consisting of modular techie designs - like something out of the movies: The Hunger Games, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, or Tron. Note that the word ‘Hypogeum’ literally translates to ‘Underground’ from Greek - ‘hypo’ (under) and ‘gaia’ (ground) - and is typically associated with the area located beneath the Roman Colosseum where gladiators, slaves, and animals were kept ready to fight for THE GAMES.

  Extreme LAN Party and "BYOC" Gaming Events:

This Bring-Your-Own-Computer Gaming Event could easily be described as "The Woodstock of Game Playing" and is to be modeled after a very small number of similar, successful events currently held within the United States and around the Globe. To experience the event, thousands of computer gamers from all over the world, would make the pilgrimage to play video games and compete in tournaments along with their friends on a giant high-performance gaming network (LAN = Local Area Network), and to experience extreme high-tech entertainment, total immersive virtual reality, and the largest high-definition video walls available. Social events will include a full range of cyber sports, costume contests, theatrical, and live-action venues.

  The Initial Locations:

An Inaugural Event is currently being planned to be held simultaneously at the historic "Hanger One" located at Moffet Field, Northern California, a landmark of Silicon Valley with restoration currently being funded by Google, and at the equally historic hangers of the former "Tustin Marine Corps Air Station" located in Orange County, California.

Subsequent Events will be held periodically at other premere locations such as the Queen Mary Spruce Goose Dome located in the Long Beach, California.

Current Objectives and Status:

Hypogeum Productions is currently exploring original concept designs for the Cyber Sports Arena systems and venues.

Hypogeum Productions has begun establishing key relationships with candidate partners, sponsors, event planning groups, and high-tech entertainment companies.

Hypogeum Productions is researching information leading toward preparation of a business plan along with reaching out for possible collaborations with the founders/executive teams of other events of this type.

Explore the opportunity of holding an event of this type in Northern America to be modeled after "DreamHack" which currently holds the official world record as the world’s largest LAN party in the 2011 Guinness Book of Records with 12,754 gamers bringing computers and 13,608 accompanying visitors. During 2009 in Jonkopin Sweden, DreamHack reached a total of over 200,000 visitors with simultaneous online and live activities held around the world.

Other events of this type include: "QuakeCon", a free BYOC gaming event with a competitive tournament held every year at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas Texas, and "The Gathering", considered the 2nd largest LAN party, and held annually held at the Vikingskipet Olympic Arena in Hamar, Norway which has an attendance of over 5000 participants.
